MORE INFORMATION
Microsoft Office 2007 was used in the illustrations below.  You may also use these steps to configure Microsoft Office 2003 as the user interface might look slightly different, the settings will be exactly the same.

Overview of RPC over HTTP
RPC over HTTP, also referred to as MAPI over SSL, gives a remote user the same experience with their Exchange account as if they were connected locally.  This enables you to sync your mailbox, calanders, contacts, tasks, and more while at a remote location.  It achieves this by utilizing the Outlook Web Access site hosted by your Exchange server.

Setting up Outlook
First you will need to shut down Outlook in order to add your Exchange user account on your computer.  Once Outlook is completely shut down find the Mail icon in your Windows control panel and double-click to open it.  Follow the steps below.

Click on "Email Accounts".

Click "New".

You will want to configure the connection manually.  Check the box in front of "Manually configure server settings or additional server types".  Once you've done this go ahead and click "Next" .

Check the radio button in front of "Microsoft Exchange" and then click Next.

Type the server address 34093-MBX-C05.mex07a.mlsrvr.com in the "Exchange Server" field.  In the "Username" field you will enter the user name assigned to you by FireHost.  Once complete, click "More Settings".

Click on the "Connection" tab and check the box in front of "Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP".  Click on "Exchange Proxy Settings".

Under "Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange" type in mex07a.emailsrvr.com and check the box "Connect using SSL only".  Make sure both boxes are checked to connect using HTTP first on fast and slow connections.  Click on the drop down menu under "Proxy authentication settings" and select "Basic Authentication".  Once complete click "OK".  Your Exchange server configuration is now complete.  Click on "OK" on all of the Windows until you get to the Exchange Server address screen and click on "Next".

When you open Outlook you will be prompted with a user login.

In the field next to "User name" type in your email address.  Once you have entered your password and clicked "OK", Outlook will connect to the Exchange server for the first time.  If you have a large mailbox this can take several minutes.  Once finished, your setup is complete.
