Bandwidth Limiting in FireVault

This tutorial will show you how to limit bandwidth used by the FireVault software.

When using FireVault during work hours or time when computer is in use you might experience a internet lag.   Maybe you have a laptop and are forced do backups during the times you are on the computer because you don't leave it on over night.  FireVault has the ability to allow you to control how much bandwidth it uses so that it can backup during hours of computer usage and not effect your service.

1.  Open FireVault configuration screen.

2.  Select "Bandwidth Limiting" on the left column.

3.  Check the box next to "Limit upload bandwidth to" and select the desired bandwidth.  If on a standard DSL connection you can confidently use 50-100kbps and still have a smooth user experience on the internet.

4.  Though you can limit your download speed, it is not necessary except for when restoring files.
